Malin Akerman is an actress, model, and musician. Born in Sweden, she was brought up in Ontario, Canada where her family originally relocated to in the late 1980s. Akerman attended school, the University of Toronto, where she studied film, theatre, music, and graphic design. She then moved on to the United States, where she began to work on films, television shows, and commercials.
Malin Akerman’s greatest claim to fame, however, is as the lead singer and guitarist of the band the Black Keys. The band has released six albums, the most recent of which, last year’s “The Black Keys: A Tribute to Jimmy Page”. Akerman has also played guitar for artists such as Jack White, Ben Gibbard, David Gilmour, and Neil Young.
Akerman’s acting career has included roles in a variety of TV shows, including “Empire”, “Nashville”, “Law and Order”, “CSI: NY”, and “The Blacklist.” She played an FBI agent and worked as a writer on the short lived series, “CSI: NY.”
In addition to being an actress and musician, Malin Akerman also enjoys a successful career in writing. She has written numerous novels, including the 2020 movie, “A Thousand Splendor” starring James Belushi and Lisa Kudrow. Her other non-writing credits include several music videos for artists such as Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, and Billy Joel.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Akerman was asked what her favorite genre was. Her response?
“Jazz,” she said, smiling broadly. “That’s where it all started. Jazz is about feeling like you are in an amazing environment, like a jazz club or in a huge hall in New York City.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever quit writing,” Akerman continued. “It’s so much fun to be able to make this kind of art happen. And my dream now is to have my own music studio. To make my own records, and my own movies.
Malin Akerman has always been open about her past, even going back to her days as a model and actress. No matter what fans might think of her, one thing is for sure: she has created a loyal fan base, which can be seen in many of her interviews.
“I’m not really surprised about that, considering how many things I have done and said over the years,” she said. “But it does make me feel good that people still love me because I am so real. I am a human being with flaws, but I’m still someone who has integrity and honesty.”
Akerman also admitted that she was once ashamed of her Jewish heritage. Today, she proudly wears a Star of David ring and identifies as a proud Jewess.
Malin Akerman has also made the decision to work as an actress, writing and directing several documentaries. These projects include “Loving,” which follows the story of a gay couple who come together in a Catholic Church. The film also includes the voices of Oprah Winfrey and Billy Joel.
Her film “Cabaret” followed her personal story of being a dancer at a New York City theater. Her directorial debut, “The Book Thief,” is about a book thief and the woman who try to help him find her manuscript.
In her most recent film, “The Book Thief,” Malin Akerman was able to work with some well-known actors, including Ben Kingsley. She also stars in the documentary, “The Book Thief,” which is about a young woman in a wheelchair who has difficulty walking, as well as in several video clips posted on her YouTube page.
Malin Akerman credits her love of literature with her passion for acting, which she credits as one of the reasons why she wrote her first book, “The Book Thief.” “You are more likely to get something if you believe you are important than if you believe in something that is worthless or unimportant,” she told an interviewer.
“I’ve been fascinated by words ever since I was a child,” she told another interviewer. “Books, like stories, capture the beauty and mystery that make life beautiful.”
One thing you should take from the Malin Akerman Bio is her desire to spread the word. To show others her love and gratitude for all they have done for her.
