From
Diane: A compelling but bleak tale of humanity's future, Bradbury's
classic presents a world where books are illegal. Guy Montag is
a fireman, whose job it is to burn whatever contraband is found,
but begins to question the reasons why. |
|
Diane's
Pic: I'm not a huge Fantasy fan, but this novel has stayed with
me for years. A tribe of celts find they must move to the mysterious
land north of the Iberian peninsula: Ireland. The battles and drama
do not out-shine the rich characters in this magical story. |
|
From
Jackie: a fabulous novel that takes the reader inside the Cardassian
Union and the Klingon Empire and for the first time illuminates
the details behind the Betreka Nebula Incident. From the annexation
of Bajor to the Khitomer massacre, 18 years of Star Trek history
is explored in this imaginative and enlightening novel. |
|
From
Jackie: I would definately recommend "Prophecy and Change"
to any Deep Space Nine fan. It brings the series to life in a very
remarkable and memorable way with stories that feature every major
character. |

For
those of you who don't know, Marco Palmieri, DS9 editor at Pocket
Books has received permission from Paramount to continue the DS9
saga. This book picks up three months after the end of the War.
Kira is running the station, and it is in much the same shape as
it was when the series started . . . heavily damaged and in need
of an overhaul. . . and about to be attacked by the Jem 'Hadar. |
|
Welcome
back, Ro Laren! Ro has taken over security in place of Odo at the
insistence of the Bajoran government. Murder, mayhem, intrigue,
Kira being cranky, and Ro flirting with Quark . . . what more could
you ask for?? |
|
Diane's
Pic: Andrew Robinson does just as stellar a job writing a novel
about the wonderfully enigmatic Garak as he did portraying him for
7 years on Deep Space Nine. A Stitch in Time has Garak returning
home to Cardassia after the Dominion War. |
|
Diane
says: Peter David's novel take Picard and crew on a mind-bending
trip through alternate timelines. This is my favorite Trek novel! |
|
From
Diane: JG Hertzler, along with co-author Jeffrey Lang set these
two novels after The Dominion War as well. Martok comes home to
find his Chancellorship challenged by a mysterious opponent. Left
Hand of Destiny and it's sequel takes their cue from the Arthurian
legends with great success! |

This
is a Chris recommendation. Liz is a Trek fan of long standing and
she has written this really great book! There is mystery, suspense
and a beautifully realized alien culture. I can't wait to read more
from Liz. |
|
Another
Chris recommendation by another Trek fan. Rebecca is a winning author
from the Strange New Worlds contest, and this is her first
novel. I'm reading it now and find it an absolutely charming fantasy.
It's a quick read . . . light, funny, delectable fantasy. |
