From
Diane: This biography of First Lady Abigail Adams was based mostly
on the letters between her and her husband John Adams. A great look
at the birth of a nation through the eyes of the opposite sex.
Dearest Friend: By Lynne Withey |

From
Casey: "Franklin has always intrigued me as the architect of
the beginning of our independence as a country. Having just read
this excellent biography I'm even more intrigued and startled at
the brilliance of his mind and abilities."
The First American: The Life and Times of Benjamin Franklin by H.

It's
the story of the tragedy of the whaleship Essex, which was the ship
that Herman Mellvile bases Moby Dick on. Having acted in a production
of Moby Dick Rehearsed and having visted Nantucket, I have become
fascinated with whaling and the courage it took to be a whaler.
This book is an exciting, frightening true tale of an attack of
a bull whale on a whaling ship leaving the surviving crew stranded
in open boats for months and the toll it takes on the rest of their
lives.

From
Casey: "I never travel without this book. I've had it for years
and I constantly come back to it for inspiration and direction.
Do yourself a favor. Get it."

Casey's
comments:" 'He who has a why to live for can bear with almost
any how,' Victor Frankl writes in this life-altering treatise on
man's search for meaning. In needing to try to understand what is
transpiring in the world today, I sought out this book, having read
it in the past, and was once again inspired by our ability to transcend
and say yes to life."

A
terrific book that I've had for years, and that I go back to often.
In the light of recent events I've started to read it again. It
is a very readable and informative account of the actual history
of the concept of God in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. I wanted
to be more familiar with the concept of Islam so I read it again
and was struck with how diverse and changeable our idea of God is
over the ages
A History of God: By Karen Armstrong |

From
Diane: An amazing compilation. The author scaled works far
and wide, bringing together excerpts from mythology, religion, psychology,
essays, music, poetry, literature, and anything else that offers
a perspective on the human soul.
Soul: An Archeaology: By Philip Cousineau |

From
